Brooklyn, NY – May on Bike Fatally Struck by Car in Brownsville

Brooklyn, NY (June 28, 2019) – According to police, a bicyclist was tragically struck and killed in yet another fatal bike accident in New York City. The crash was reported to have occurred around 9:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Chester Street and Shutter Avenue in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn.
Authorities stated that 57-year-old Ernest Askew was riding a bicycle near the aforementioned area when an unidentified 18-year-old male operating an unspecified vehicle collided with him. Emergency medical technicians were promptly called to the scene, where they transported both parties to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. Askew was tragically pronounced deceased a short time later, and the driver of the vehicle involved sustained a hand injury.
No further information has been released at this time, as police are actively conducting a thorough investigation into the details of this tragic incident.
