Rhinebeck, NY – Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Amtrak Train

Rhinebeck, NY (June 26, 2019) – On Tuesday morning, June 25th, an elderly man was reported to have been tragically struck and killed by an Amtrak train in the town of Rhinebeck, according to state police. Authorities stated that the deadly pedestrian and train collision happened at 9:17 a.m. between the Rhinecliff and Staatsburg stations.
Following an investigation into the incident, police determined that a man identified as 92-year-old An V. Tran, of Poughkeepsie, was walking along the tracks in the aforementioned location for uncertain reasons. Tran was then struck by a southbound Amtrak train, and emergency responders were called to the scene a short time later.
Unfortunately, Tran was pronounced deceased at the accident site but no further information has been released at this time. Police are likely to be continuing the investigation into this incident in order to establish fault.
