Naples, NY – Update: Identity of Teen Injured in Bike Crash Released

Naples, NY (June 26, 2019) – Police have released the identity of the teenage boy was airlifted to the hospital after a crash on his bicycle on Tuesday afternoon, June 25th. Authorities stated that 16-year-old Ethan Friend sustained serious injuries in the accident, which happened along State Route 245 in the town of Naples.
According to authorities, around 1:00 p.m., Friend was riding his bike along the above-named road when he ended up in front of a Toyota Tundra being operated by Karen Hoefen, 43. Friend was struck and subsequently ejected from his bike, promptly resulting in the presence of police and paramedics at the scene.
Naples Fire and Ambulance accompanied deputies and a Mercy Flight helicopter at the crash site, where Friend was ultimately airlifted to Golisano’s Children Hospital. He is currently listed in guarded condition.
