Hauppauge, NY – Driver Seriously Injured After Car Flips on LIE

Hauppauge, NY (June 24, 2019) – A vehicle was reported to have flipped over along the Long Island Expressway, resulting in serious injuries to the driver early on Monday morning, June 24th. The incident took place around 12:30 a.m. between Exits 55 and 56 in the town of Hauppauge.
Police stated that the driver of an unspecified vehicle, identified as Hugo Chavez, of Huntington Station, was traveling along the LIE when uncertain events caused the vehicle to roll over several times before landing in the woods nearby. Chavez was ejected from the vehicle during the accident.
Emergency medical crews accompanied police at the scene, where a medical helicopter was called to airlift Chavez. He was flown to a nearby hospital where his current condition has not been specified. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Chevez Rivaz, also of Huntington Station, sustained minor injuries. The cause of this accident is under investigation.
