Chelsea, Manhattan, NY – Bike Messenger Struck and Killed by Delivery Truck

Chelsea, Manhattan, NY (June 24, 2019) – A woman working as a bike messenger was tragically struck and killed by a delivery truck on Monday morning, June 24^th. The fatal incident was reported to have happened along Sixth Avenue, between West 23^rd and 24^th Streets, in the Chelsea section of Manhattan around 9:00 a.m.

According to authorities, the 20-year-old female victim was riding a bike along the roadway when she was struck by a white delivery truck. The driver of the truck was unaware that a person had been hit until he was flagged down a couple of blocks away, at which point the driver returned to the scene.

Emergency medical crews arrived alongside police, where they transported the severely injured woman to Bellevue Hospital. The victim was bleeding from the head and tragically succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Her identity has not been released at this time.
