Port Crane: Woman Killed in Bicycle Accident on State Route 369

Port Crane, NY (June 23, 2019) – The Broome County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal bicycle accident on State Route 369 in Port Crane that took the life of a woman.
At the time, the female cyclist was riding on the shoulder of the highway when she was struck by a vehicle last night, June 22nd. The car was traveling northbound at the time and attempted to swerve out of its lane, but then struck the rider traveling in the opposite direction.
The driver was found at a residence about a mile from the scene because they did not stay there after the accident.
Eventually, police located the driver at a residence about 30 minutes after the bicyclist was struck. The driver was immediately taken into custody.
Police are still investigating the circumstances that caused the accident.
