Oswego, NY (June 23, 2019) – One person received injuries at an Oswego Speedway event when they were involved in a car crash and their vehicle burst into flames.
At the time, police confirmed that Vern LaFave was driving against Dalton Doyle for a win when Doyle suddenly edged over the finish line and the vehicles brushed up against one another. LaFave’s vehicle was immediately sent into the wall, causing it to catch on fire.
Fire crews jumped to the rescue to help LaFave and pulled him to safety. He was then taken to the hospital with injuries but is expected to recover.
Police claim that LaFave suffered burn injuries in the accident but police say that he is lucky to be alive. LaFave has since reported himself that he received third-degree burns on his hands and arms.
