Long Island, NY: Two-Car Crash on Wantagh State Pkwy- Fatality

Long Island, NY (June 23, 2019) – Police confirmed that two people were killed in a two-car accident that took place on the Wantagh State Parkway in Long Island.

The accident, according to authorities, took place early this morning, June 23^rd, around 12:50 a.m. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of the highway near a local exit.

One of the vehicles was headed northbound at the time when it suddenly struck the rear-end of another. The impact was so forceful that the car that was struck lost control and flew off the road, where it immediately ran into a tree. The vehicle was then engulfed in flames.

Two people inside the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident; however, their identities have not been released.

All of the lanes on the parkway were closed down for five hours but have since re-opened. At this time, the investigation into the accident continues.
