Valley Falls, NY (June 22, 2019) – Police confirmed that a man from Cohoes was killed in a train accident that took place near Powder Mill Road when he was struck.
The accident took place along the railroad tracks on Thursday night when 36-year-old Marco Daurio was struck by a PanAm Railways grain train.
According to State Police, they are not sure why Daurio was on the tracks at the time of the accident. They also confirmed that the 113-car grain train was headed east at the time when the incident took place.
Railroad Police and troopers have been working on their investigation into the accident and the driver of the train stayed at the scene to cooperate with the police. Police are still awaiting information on the speed of the train at this time in order to determine fault.
