Lloyd, NY – Fatal Accident Involving Two Vehicles on State Route 9W

Lloyd, NY (June 22, 2019) – On Tuesday, around 8:00 a.m., a fatal accident took place involving two vehicles on State Route 9W in Lloyd. The accident closed down the northbound lanes.

According to police, a 57-year-old passenger vehicle driver was traveling on State Route 9W near the intersection with Argent Drive. At the time, police claim that the man was traveling south when he suddenly crossed into the northbound lane and was struck by somebody in a 2016 Ford transit cargo van.

The 57-year-old driver was quickly transported to the hospital by Mobile Life Support Services, but while there, he was tragically pronounced deceased. The driver of the cargo van was identified as a 29-year-old man, who was carrying five passengers in his vehicle. Many of the passengers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, but one was also hospitalized with serious injuries.

Route 9W was closed down for three hours while police worked on their investigation into the accident. Various responders assisted at the scene, including the New York State Police and a Collision Reconstruction Unit.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
