Inlet, NY – Man Seriously Injured in Bicycle Crash

Inlet, NY (June 21, 2019) – At 9:17 a.m. on Thursday, June 20th, State Police were called to assist in the investigation of a collision that left a bicyclist injured in the town of Inlet. The accident involved a bicycle and a motor vehicle and was reported to have occurred along State Route 28.
According to an investigation into the incident, 51-year-old Kevin R. Ponder, of Inlet, was heading westbound along the side of Route 28 when he collided with rear-end of a truck. The wet roadway is believed to have played a role in the victim’s inability to stop, although the investigation continues at this time.
Emergency medical responders were called to the scene, where Ponder was then transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica. Ponder was reported to have suffered fractured ribs on his left side, as well as a collapsed lung. He has been listed in stable condition at this time.
