Ramapo, NY: Drunk Driver Causes Injurious Accident on Palisades

Ramapo, NY (June 19, 2019) – At approximately 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18^th, police were called to the scene of a serious car accident with entrapment The crash was reported to have taken place on the Palisades Parkway near Exit 11 for reasons related to intoxication.

According to authorities, Troopers arrived at the scene of the crash to find a man identified as Michael Keyser, 36, of Stony Point, sitting in the grass by the vehicle and covered in mud. One other male passenger, identified as Joseph Burkert, 50, also of Stony Point, trapped inside the vehicle.

Emergency responders were called to the scene, where they extricated Berkert from the vehicle and transported both parties to Nyack Hospital. Keyser initially told police that he lost control of the vehicle due to weather conditions. However, Troopers quickly determined that he was intoxicated. Authorities stated that Keyser was found to be under the influence of both alcohol and cocaine, and he has since been charged for driving under the influence of both.

While Keyser was only hospitalized for evaluation, Berkert sustained at least non-life-threatening injuries. No further information has been released.
