Auburn, NY: Pedestrian Taken to Trauma Center After Accident

Auburn, NY (June 19, 2019) – A pedestrian was reported to have suffered serious injuries after being struck by a pickup truck at an intersection on Tuesday afternoon, June 18th. Police stated that the incident occurred at Genesee Street and South Fulton Street around 3:15 p.m.
The victim, identified only as a 26-year-old man, was attempting to walk across Genesee Street when he was hit by a pickup truck being operated by an unidentified 80-year-old Auburn man, according to the Auburn Police Department. The pickup truck driver was stated to have been heading north on South Fulton Street and had just turned left onto Genesee at the time of the accident.
Authorities said that the victim was in the crosswalk when he was struck and that several witnesses provided some initial medical treatment as they waited for emergency medical crews and police to arrive. The victim was ultimately taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was admitted into the trauma center. The victim is currently in stable condition and no tickets have been issued to the driver involved.
