The Bronx, NY: Man Struck and Killed in Woodstock Hit-and-Run

The Bronx, NY (June 17, 2019) – Police have now identified the man who was sadly struck and killed while walking along Austin Place in the Bronx on Sunday, June 16.th 37-year-old Christopher Nieves was reported to have suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a hit-and-run driver.
Officers were called to the scene near 581 Austin Place after a pedestrian was reported to have been hit by a car that fled the scene around 6:00 a.m. Emergency medical crews immediately transported Nieves to Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Following a preliminary investigation, authorities determined that Nieves had been attempting to walk across the Bruckner Boulevard service road when the driver of a tan or brown Chevrolet Tahoe struck him and then fled the area. Police are currently looking for the vehicle in question and are asking anyone with any information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
