Buffalo, NY: Two Police Officers Struck and Injured by Reckless ATV

Buffalo, NY (June 17, 2019) – Two police officers are currently being treated for injuries at Erie County Medical Center after being struck by an out of control ATV early on Sunday evening, June 16th. The incident was reported to have happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Fillmore Avenue and Best Street.
According to authorities, the two officers were on bike patrol duty for the Juneteenth Festival, which takes place in the area. Police stated that a 40-year-old man who was recklessly operating an ATV ran down the officers when they attempted to stop him. The impact of the accident was enough to drag one of the officers several feet along the side of the roadway.
Emergency medical crews assisted the injured officers who are now being treated at ECMC for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the ATV is now in custody and facing a slew of charges, including assault on a police officer and reckless endangerment.
