Brooklyn, NY: Two Killed in Fatal Car Accident at Flatbush Ave.

Brooklyn, NY (June 16, 2019) – Around 12:06 a.m. on Saturday, June 15th, police responded to the scene of a fatal car accident that took place at Flatbush Avenue.
The accident took place at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Avenue V when a Nissan Altima ran into a pole for reasons unknown and then burst into flames. The vehicle became completely engulfed in flames after bystanders were able to pull the driver out of the vehicle.
Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire on the vehicle. The male driver and his occupant were pronounced dead at the scene.
When police conducted their investigation, they found that the Nissan had been traveling northbound at a high speed when it suddenly sideswiped a Ford Edge, ran a red light, mounted the center median, and crashed into the pole.
Police are still trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control.
