Rush, NY (June 15, 2019) – Police responded to the scene of a serious dump truck accident that took place on Works Road and led to serious injuries.
Authorities said that four people were taken to the hospital after the crash, which took place on Wednesday of this week, around 3:00 p.m.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident, a dump truck, 2008 Saab, and 2013 Ford Escape. The dump truck had been traveling west when deputies claim that the Saab pulled out in front of the truck, leading to the accident.
Everybody except the driver of the Ford was able to get out of their vehicle. He was extricated by emergency responders.
The truck driver was identified as 34-year-old Joseph Larocca, who suffered leg pain. The driver of the Saab, 19-year-old Chandler Simpson, suffered arm injuries. A passenger suffered a leg injury and head injury. The driver of the Ford, 67-year-old Michael Gates, suffered leg pain and internal injuries.
The truck has since been identified as a DPW truck that was transporting asphalt to another destination at the time. Charges are pending and the investigation is in its early stages.
