Patchogue, NY – Mother Killed and Daughter Injured in Fire on Ohls Street

Patchogue, NY (June 14, 2019) – A fire that broke out in Suffolk County, Long Island on Friday morning, June 14th, tragically claimed the life of one woman while severely injuring another, according to authorities. The fire was reported to have started sometime around 9:30 a.m. at a home located on Ohls Street.

Officials stated that the blaze is believed to have started in the basement of the home where it began to spread. Firefighters were immediately summoned to the scene and discovered the body of 65-year-old Elisa Doughty in the basement. Elisa’s daughter, identified as 34-year-old Kristle Doughty, was found on the first floor of the home and suffering from burns over approximately 18% of her body.

According to authorities, the injured victim’s burns appear to be mostly to her arms and she was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for further treatment. Her current condition is unclear. Police are actively investigating the cause of the fire.
