Olean, NY – Bicyclist Injured in Crash on Wayne Street

Olean, NY (June 13, 2019) – An accident in Olean was reported to have resulted in one injury on Wednesday afternoon, June 12th, according to police. The collision took place around 2:00 p.m. along Wayne Street, in the vicinity of North Union Street.
Police stated that the crash happened the driver of a vehicle, identified as 62-year-old Frederick A. Lewis, struck a man on a bicycle while driving in the aforementioned area. The bicyclist, identified as 58-year-old Gerald Lapiere, was attempting to cross the roadway between two stopped cars.
Lapiere was reported to have suffered at least minor injuries and was treated at the scene by emergency medical professionals. Lewis was ultimately charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and is due back in court at a later time. No further information has been released.
