Aurora, NY – 12-Year-Old Boy Almost Drowns During School Field Trip

Aurora, NY (June 12, 2019) – According to authorities in East Aurora, a 12-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after he nearly drowned while on a school field trip on Wednesday morning, June 12th. East Aurora police were called to the scene along with fire rescue officials around 10:30 a.m.
Police stated that the incident took place at the Town of Aurora Community Pool, as they were sent to that location for a possible drowning. Two lifeguards who were on duty at the time of the incident stated that the boy was underwater for too long. The lifeguards pulled the child from the water and he was unconscious and unresponsive at the time.
According to authorities, a third lifeguard performed rescue breaths and the child eventually regained consciousness. He was then transported to Oishei Children’s Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
