Richford, NY – Motorcyclist Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on Route 79

Richford, NY (June 10, 2019) – Authorities are currently investigating the cause of a three-vehicle crash that left a motorcyclist dead on Sunday afternoon, June 9th. The accident happened around 4:40 p.m. along Route 79, according to the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials stated that the incident occurred as a vehicle, which was traveling east in the vicinity of Terrell Road, swerved into the westbound lane. He vehicle subsequently struck a motorcycle, as well as another unspecified vehicle. The operator of the motorcycle, identified as 77-year-old Robert A. Spaulding, of Ithaca, two people in the westbound vehicle, and one person in the eastbound vehicle were confirmed as the four parties involved in the crash.
Mr. Spaulding was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was tragically pronounced deceased, according to authorities. The other three parties were taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
