NY: Intoxicated Driver Causes Accident that Killed E-Bike Rider

Canarsie, Brooklyn, NY (June 10, 2019) – A woman who caused a fatal accident while driving drunk with her child in the vehicle is under arrest, according to police. Authorities stated that around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday night, June 9th, an intoxicated driver struck and fatally injured an e-bike rider near the intersection of East 105th Street and Avenue D.
Police reported that Treasure Liggins, 22, was driving her vehicle while drunk with her four-year-old child in the backseat when she struck a deliveryman as he was riding an electric bike. The victim, identified as Mohammed Abdullah, was immediately transported to Brookdale Hospital after police and emergency responders arrived at the scene.
Tragically, Abdullah was pronounced deceased shortly after his admittance into the hospital. Liggins was subsequently arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide, manslaughter, and aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child, among other charges. No further information concerning the accident has been made available.
