Washington, NY – Fatal Pedestrian Accident on State Route 82 Under Investigation

Washington, NY (June 7, 2019) – New York State Police have begun investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that took place at around 9:15 p.m. on Thursday night, June 6. The incident which took place between a pedestrian and a motor vehicle happened along State Route 82 in the town of Washington, according to authorities.
Police stated that a white 2006 BMW 325 had been parked southbound along Route 82 near South Road. The BMW was in the center lane with its hazard lights activated when the driver, identified as 54-year-old Hope A. McLucas, of Pleasant Valley, got out of the vehicle. She was standing in or near the northbound lane when a 2011 Toyota Tundra struck her.
Police and emergency medical crews were summoned to the scene where they sadly pronounced McLucas deceased. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed but the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
