Wilmington, NY – Update: Police Identify Woman Killed in House Fire

Wilmington, NY (June 4, 2019) – Police have now released the name of the woman was tragically killed in a house fire on Saturday morning, June 1st. The fire broke out at a home located on Springfield Road for reasons that remain unknown at this time.

According to authorities, 37-year-old Brittany Barney and her boyfriend were inside the home when the fire started. As fire crews were dispatched to the scene, neighbors attempted to help both occupants but were only able to save the boyfriend.

Firefighters battled the blaze as emergency medical crews were brought to the scene along with the police. Unfortunately, Barney was pronounced deceased at 11:05 a.m. The identity of the boyfriend who survived the blaze has not been released, as no further details concerning the fire have been provided. The cause is under investigation at this time.
