Harlem, NY – 9-Year-Old Seriously Injured in Ambulance Accident at First Avenue

Harlem, NY (June 2, 2019) – Police responded to the scene of an ambulance accident involving a child on a scooter that led to serious injuries yesterday afternoon at First Avenue.

Authorities first received the calls about the accident around 4:23 p.m. They discovered that an ambulance had been driving with its lights and sirens on but was coming down the wrong way on one street as it turned onto First Street. The ambulance immediately struck a 9-year-old boy who was riding an electric scooter at the time.

EMS crews confirmed that the boy had a broken leg, broken pelvis, and internal bleeding caused by the force from the accident. The victim was transported to a local medical center and is said to be in serious but stable condition.

No charges have been filed at this time and police continue their investigation.
