Amsterdam, NY – Fatal Motorcycle Accident at Intersection of Route 5S and Route 30

Amsterdam, NY (June 2, 2019) – Police were called to investigate a fatal motorcycle accident at the intersection of Route 5S and Route 30.
According to police, the accident happened around 6:22 p.m. at the intersection when a motorcycle had been operated by a 28-year-old from Glenville and struck a vehicle. The vehicle was identified as a 2014 Subaru being driven by an 83-year-old man from Amsterdam.
Police say that the driver of the vehicle turned left in front of the motorcyclist, causing the two to collide with force. The motorcyclist, whose name has not yet been released, was immediately taken to the Albany Medical Center by medical helicopter and the driver of the Subaru was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
The motorcyclist has since passed away due to his injuries. At this time, the investigation into the motorcycle accident is ongoing.
