Brooklyn, NY (May 31, 2019) – According to the NYPD and the FDNY, a truck crashed into two pedestrians before slamming into a store on Friday afternoon, May 31st, in the Bath Beach neighborhood. The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on 86th Street.
Authorities stated that police arrived at the accident site to find that the 63-year-old driver of a box truck had jumped the curb, subsequently striking a male pedestrian. The truck then crashed into a storefront before reversing and ultimately hitting a second pedestrian, identified only as a 27-year-old woman.
Emergency medical crews arrived at the scene, where they transported the male pedestrian to Coney Island Hospital. He is currently listed in critical condition. The injured woman was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where the extent of her injuries has not been verified.
After striking a subway pillar, the driver of the box truck stopped and remained at the scene. No further information has been made available, as the cause of this incident is under investigation.
