Brooklyn, NY – Box Truck Injures Two Pedestrians on Sidewalk at 86th Street

Brooklyn, NY (June 1, 2019) – Yesterday, around 2:00 p.m., on 86th Street in Bath Beach, a box truck drove out of control and injured two pedestrians in a horrific accident.
Witnesses told police that a box truck, which was driving out of control, slammed into a Malaysian restaurant and then struck a gray van. A man on the sidewalk was struck. While the driver started to back up, he struck a woman before crashing into a subway pillar in the area.
The victims were both seriously injured and taken to the Maimonides Medical Center. The man is listed in critical condition and the woman had serious injuries, but both are expected to survive.
The driver was taken into police custody. At this time, police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
