Amityville, NY – One Killed in Overnight Crash on Sunrise Highway

Amityville, NY (May 27, 2019) – Police have stated that one person lost their life after a tragic car accident that took place in the early morning hours on Monday, May 27th. The accident was reported to have occurred shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Sunrise Highway for reasons that remain under investigation at this time.
Authorities stated that a man identified as Thomas Valentino, of Dix Hills, had been traveling along Sunrise Highway near Albany Avenue when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle went off the roadway. Valentino subsequently struck a utility pole, likely at high speed, and emergency responders were quickly called to the scene a short time later.
According to police, Valentino was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries suffered in the crash. The official cause of this incident will be determined following the investigation, which is ongoing at this time.
