The Bronx, NY (May 24, 2019) – According to authorities, an off-duty NYC correction officer was tragically killed in a car accident on the Bronx River Parkway Friday morning, May 24th. The accident took place near East 233rd Street at an unspecified time during the morning hours.
Police stated that the 28-year-old driver whose identity has not been released went off the roadway and flipped over into the woods for reasons that have not been determined at this time. The driver was subsequently thrown from the vehicle and emergency medical crews were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Unfortunately, the sole victim of the crash was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured and no other vehicles are believed to have played a part in the accident. The official cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
