Syosset, NY: Police Identify Ambulance Driver Struck- Killed

Syosset, NY (May 23, 2019) – Authorities have released the identity of the ambulette driver who was tragically struck and killed alongside the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway on Wednesday morning, May 22nd. 74-year-old Herman Hanson was hit by a vehicle on the shoulder of Route 135 at an unstated time.
According to authorities, Hanson was transporting a patient when he stopped along the side of the expressway to speak with the driver of the vehicle behind him who was a relative of the patient. While conversing with the relative, a black Infinity sideswiped both of the ambulette and the other vehicle, as well as Hanson.
Emergency crews were promptly dispatched to the crash site a short time later and Hanson was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Infinity remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities. The incident continues to be under investigation at this time.
