Lindenhurst, NY – Crossing Guard Accused of Forcibly Touching Teenage Girl

Lindenhurst, NY (May 23, 2019) – Authorities have stated that a veteran crossing guard in Suffolk County has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl by way of forcible touching. Investigators reported that the incident took place approximately two weeks ago near Alleghany Avenue Elementary School, where 78-year-old Philip Bonaventure has been working as a crossing guard for twelve years.

Police stated that Bonaventure escorted the teenage girl while she was walking to pick up her younger sibling from school. Bonaventure is reported to have then taken the victim to a building in the area where he forcibly and inappropriately touched her. At this time, police have not mentioned which building Bonaventure took the victim into, although there is a firehouse located on the corner.

Bonaventure was arrested and charged with forcible touching, as well as endangering the welfare of a child. He is due to appear in court on Friday, May 24^th.
