Grand Island, NY: Injuries Suffered After Crash Caused by DWI Driver

Grand Island, NY (May 23, 2019) – A man has been arrested after causing a head-on collision while driving under the influence of alcohol on Wednesday, May 22nd. The crash was reported to have occurred on the northbound North Grand Island Bridge at approximately 4:20 p.m.
According to State Police, 37-year-old Andrew Chapman was driving southbound along the bridge when he collided head-on with another vehicle. Police and paramedics were immediately called to the scene in order to evaluate the collision and render aid to any injured parties.
At the crash site, authorities confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle suffered at least minor injuries as Chapman was noticeably intoxicated. Chapman was subsequently arrested for aggravated DWI and reckless driving. Police stated that Chapman had more than twice the legal limit for alcohol while driving but no further information has been released.
