Jamaica, Queens, NY – One Killed and One Hurt in Motorcycle Collision with Sanitation Truck

Jamaica, Queens, NY (May 21, 2019) – A crash between a motorcycle and a sanitation truck took place on Monday night, May 20th, and tragically resulted in the death of one man and the serious injuries of another. The time of the accident was not reported; however, police stated that the crash happened on Liberty Avenue near 157th Street.
According to authorities, a 23-year-old man and a 30-year-old man were riding a motorcycle along Liberty Avenue when they collided with a private sanitation truck that was backing up in the aforementioned area. Both men suffered severe body trauma as they were ejected from the bike. Emergency medical responders were immediately called to the crash site along with the police.
The two seriously injured victims were transported to Jamaica Hospital, where the 30-year-old victim was sadly pronounced deceased a short time later. The 23-year-old victim remains hospitalized but his condition has improved to stable at this time. The operator of the sanitation truck was uninjured in the incident and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.
The investigation into this accident is being led by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.
