Oyster Bay, NY – Serious Fatal Accident on Northern State Parkway

Oyster Bay, NY (May 18, 2019) – Early Saturday around 3:30 a.m., a man from Brentwood was killed in a fatal accident on the Northern State Parkway in Oyster Bay.
At that time, police say that three others were also seriously injured in the accident, which took place when a vehicle ran into a highway sign pole.
New York State Police confirmed that 17-year-old Franklin Cruz Ortez was driving his Honda Pilot east when he suddenly crashed while rounding a curve. His backseat passenger, 19-year-old Darwin Velasquez-Acosta, was partially ejected in the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Cruz-Ortez was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A third passenger was taken to the hospital as well.
At this time, authorities continue their investigation into the accident.
