Port Jefferson Station, NY – Bicyclist Clipped and Injured by Train

Port Jefferson Station, NY (May 16, 2019) – According to police, a man was either struck or clipped by a Long Island Rail Road train while riding a bicycle. The incident was reported to have taken place on Wednesday, May 15th, at approximately 6:20 p.m.
The accident occurred at the train crossing on Route 112 and immediately resulted in the presence of police and paramedics at the scene. Emergency medical crews promptly transported the injured man to Stony Brook University Hospital, where the extent of his injuries has been classified as non-life-threatening at this time.
Police have not been able to confirm the events that led to this incident, as the investigation is ongoing. No further information regarding the cause of the collision or the identity of the victim has been made available.
