Heuvelton, NY – Update: Identities Released and Arrest Made Following Motorcycle Crash

Heuvelton, NY (May 14, 2019) – Police have released the identities of two people involved in a motorcycle accident that left both parties injured and resulted in the arrest of the operator of the bike for DWI. The crash took place back on May 6th at approximately 5:18 p.m., according to authorities.
Authorities have confirmed that 52-year-old Matthew C. Ewart, of Ogdensburg, was intoxicated and improperly licensed when he made an unsafe lane change in the vicinity of 5445 Route 12 and subsequently crashed the motorcycle with one passenger. The passenger has now been identified as Duane G. Charland, also of Ogdensburg.
Emergency medical crews were promptly dispatched to the scene, where Ewart declined treatment for minor injuries. Charland, however, was immediately transported to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg with various injuries, including a sprained wrist. Ewart has been charged with DWI and felony aggravated unlicensed operation.
