Dexter, NY: Man Charged with Distributing Child Pornography

Dexter, NY (May 8, 2019) – Following a thorough investigation, two search warrants were executed on Tuesday, May 7th, which resulted in the arrest of a man wanted for possessing, promoting, and distributing child pornography. According to police, Gerald W. MacNeil, 55, has been charged with three counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, as well as two counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child. Both charges are felonies.

Authorities stated that the arrest came after a joint investigation conducted by the InternetGerald W. MacNeil Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is made up of the NYS Police and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations Division. The investigation revealed that MacNeil had been using computers and software at both a business and a residence to distribute and possess child pornography.

Videos and images of children, ranging in age from toddlers to under 16-years-old, engaging in sexual conduct were discovered. MacNeil has been taken to Jefferson County Jail on $10,000 bond or $5,000 cash bail. Further charges are currently pending as the investigation continues at this time.
