Canarsie, Brooklyn, NY (May 9, 2019) – An accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon, May 8th, tragically resulted in the death of a 6-year-old boy and the injuries of his mother, according to police. Authorities stated that the crash took place around 4:00 p.m. along Seaview Avenue, between Paerdegat Avenue North and East 80th Street.
For unknown reasons, a yet-to-be-identified 44-year-old woman had been traveling along Seaview Avenue in a Toyota Highlander when she crashed into a parked Nissan Rogue. The woman had her son in the back seat when she struck the vehicle that subsequently hit another car parked in a nearby driveway.
Emergency medical crews were sent to the scene, where they transported the severely injured child to Brookdale Hospital with chest trauma. He was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. Authorities have stated that the mother is currently in stable condition at the same hospital.
It is unknown as to whether or not the child was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, but an investigation into all the events surrounding the cause of the crash is ongoing.
