Peekskill: Injuries Reported After Two Accidents With Ten Vehicles

Peekskill, NY (May 8, 2019) – It is currently unclear as to exactly how many people were injured during two motor vehicle accidents that took place on Wednesday morning, May 8th, on Route 9. According to authorities, several people were hospitalized following the accidents that started around 9:50 a.m. and ended up involving at least ten vehicles.
Police stated that a motorcyclist crashed on Route 9 near Louisa Street, resulting in the road being closed down. Shortly after that accident, while officers were diverting traffic, a second collision occurred and subsequently triggered a chain reaction of accidents involving several vehicles at approximately 10:20 p.m. Altogether, at least 10 vehicles are believed to have been involved in the series of crashes which prompted responses from emergency medical responders.
At least seven people were immediately hospitalized, three of whom were rushed to New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt with injuries classified as non-life threatening. The specific conditions of the victims have not been confirmed at this time. The details concerning the events that led to these accidents are being investigated.
