Manhattan, NY – Man Hospitalized with Serious Injuries After Train Accident

Manhattan, NY (May 4, 2019) – In the Upper West Side, police were called to the scene of a train accident that caused severe injuries around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday of this week.

The accident, according to authorities, took place at West 79^th St and Broadway. MTA workers discovered the man after the accident had happened. He was approximately 150 feet south of the platform where the train had gone through and was inside of the tunnel.

Firefighters and ESU came to the scene so that they could extricate the man, who was showing signs of severe injuries. Power was cut so that he could be rescued.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, was treated for a severe leg injury and rushed to the St. Lukes Hospital. His condition is not known at this time.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident and why the man was on the tracks is being investigated at this time.
