Piermont, NY (May 3, 2019) – A woman is currently in the hospital with serious injuries she suffered after being struck by a motor vehicle on Thursday evening, May 2nd. Authorities stated that the incident took place at around 6:50 p.m. on Route 9W near Highland Avenue.
According to police, the unidentified woman was walking across Route 9W, holding an umbrella during the rainy evening, when she was struck by a vehicle traveling north along the roadway. Piermont Police Chief Michael O’Shea stated that the woman landed on top of the car’s hood and nearly crashed through the windshield due to the impact of the accident.
Emergency medical crews were called to the scene, where they transported the injured woman to Westchester Medical Center with broken bones in her arms and legs, as well as a head injury. The unidentified male driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. No criminal charges have been filed at this time.
