Long Lake, NY (May 2, 2019) – A man from Utica was reported to have tragically died following a motor vehicle collision with a state Department of Environmental Conservation vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, May 1st. The deadly accident took place on State Route 28N at approximately 2:30 p.m., according to police.

State Troopers said that 67-year-old Edward Brown Jr., of Utica, was traveling eastbound when he collided with a Dodge Ram operated by 48-year-old Alfred J. Hoyt, of Tupper Lake. The impact of the accident forced Brown’s vehicle to strike a guardrail. Hoyt’s vehicle subsequently rolled over several times before coming to a stop in a ditch. Emergency medical crews accompanied police at the scene shortly after the crash.

Upon their arrival, paramedics pronounced Brown deceased at the scene, while Hoyt appeared to be uninjured. St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam will be performing the autopsy and the official cause of the accident remains under investigation at this time.
