Lynbrook, NY: Off-Duty NYPD Officer Killed in Collision- Long Island

Lynbrook, NY (May 1, 2019) – On Wednesday morning, May 1st, an off-duty NYPD officer was reported to have tragically lost his life following a motor vehicle accident that occurred at an intersection. The fatal collision was reported to have taken place shortly before 6:50 a.m. at the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Hempstead Avenue.
According to emergency responders, two vehicles collided at the aforementioned intersection, one of which was being operated by officer Vincent Persaud. The impact of the collision sent Persaud’s vehicle off the roadway and into a tree. Police and paramedics were immediately called to the scene of the crash, where they transported Persaud to Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital. He was sadly pronounced deceased a short time later.
According to authorities, the driver of the other vehicle involved was uninjured in the collision. At this time, the events that led to the crash remain under investigation.
