Loudonville, NY (May 1, 2019) – According to police in Colonie, one woman was confirmed to have lost her life and another was hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision that took place on Tuesday afternoon, April 30th. The accident was reported to have taken place around 2:40 p.m. on Loudon Road between Turner Lane and Burton Lane.
Police stated that 47-year-old Ivanna Komar, of Cohoes, was traveling north along Loudon Road in a silver Honda when she crossed into the southbound lane for an undetermined reason. Komar struck a blue Toyota operated by 30-year-old Meghaben Patel, of East Greenbush. Both parties were reported to be wearing their seatbelts and each was the sole occupant of their respective vehicles.
Emergency medical crews were promptly dispatched to the scene, where Komar was tragically pronounced dead. Patel was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries that have been considered relatively minor at this time.
An investigation is ongoing but neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
