Chelsea, NY – Bicycle Accident with Leg Injuries on 11th Avenue

Chelsea, NY (April 28, 2019) – A bicycle accident involving a Citi Bike rider took place on 11th Avenue near Hudson Yards last night, around 6:37 p.m., according to authorities.

Police say that the 74-year-old bicyclist was riding along near the area of 30^th Street when he collided with the cab of a UPS tractor-trailer. Police confirmed that this accident took place in a particularly busy area of western Chelsea, near the High Line stairway.

The cyclist was badly injured on the leg and was immediately transported to the Bellevue Hospital for treatment. His injuries were not considered life-threatening but we do not know his condition at this time.

The driver who struck the cyclist stayed at the scene and was not charged. The investigation into the accident continues.
