Rochester, NY – Man Injured While Escaping House Fire on North Street

Rochester, NY (April 25, 2019) – A man was reported to have sustained injuries after being forced to jump from a window while escaping a house fire that broke out on Thursday morning, April 25th. According to officials, the blaze started in the basement of a three-family home located along North Street around 4:15 a.m.
Deputy Chief Felipe Hernandez Jr. stated that a young man inside the house detected the odor of smoke and immediately told his parents. The parents quickly alerted the other occupants inside the home and four people were able to make it out safely. However, one man was forced to jump from the second-story window of the home, subsequently suffering a leg injury. Medical responders transported that man to a nearby hospital for treatment.
At this time, the injured victim is expected to be okay but no further details have been provided. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by authorities but no criminality is suspected.
