Syracuse, NY – One Killed and One Critically Injured in Pedestrian Accident with Tractor-Trailer

Syracuse, NY (April 24, 2019) – Early on Wednesday morning, April 24th, New York State Police were summoned to the scene of a serious accident between a tractor-trailer and two pedestrians that took place at 12:39 a.m. on Interstate 90. The accident was reported to have occurred along the interstate near mile marker 270, according to authorities.

Police stated that 21-year-old James F. Bowen and 24-year-old Grace L. Wilson, both of Syracuse, were traveling along the I-90 in a 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage when they stopped in the westbound driving lane for reasons likely related to vehicle failure. Both parties were in or near the roadway when they were then struck by a westbound traveling 2017 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer.

Both victims were immediately taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where Wilson was tragically pronounced dead. Bowen is stated to be in critical condition at this time. An unidentified passenger in the Mitsubishi, who remained inside the vehicle at the time of the accident, as well as the operator of the truck, Kenneth A. Finn, 37, of Geneva, were both uninjured. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
