Midtown Manhattan, NY – Two people Injured as Smoke Billows up from Several Manholes

Midtown Manhattan, NY (April 24, 2019) – According to authorities in Manhattan, smoke was reported to have been seen pouring out of several manholes on Wednesday morning, April 24th, resulting in the injuries of at least two people. The incident was stated to have taken place along East 32nd Street, between Madison Avenue and Fifth Avenue, at approximately 10:00 a.m.
While the cause and exact nature of the incident has not been stated at this time, emergency crews were able to verify that one Con Edison worker and one firefighter sustained injuries. The injuries suffered by both parties are believed to be relatively minor, although further information is currently pending.
