Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, NY (April 23, 2019) – Late Sunday night, April 21st, police in Brooklyn were alerted of a sexual assault that took place in the apartment building of the victim. According to authorities, the incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. inside of the building located near Underhill Avenue and St. John’s Place.
Police stated that the victim had been entering the apartment building when the suspect asked her for a lighter and engaged her in conversation. The woman was reported to have complied at first and ended up smoking cigarettes with the suspect before he stated that his girlfriend lives in the building and asked her to let him inside. Once inside the building, the man followed the victim and pushed her down in a hallway before sexually abusing her.
Police stated that the woman was eventually able to kick her way free and fled the building in an unknown direction. Emergency medical services were called to assist the victim where she was treated and released. Police stated that the suspect is approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs between 175 and 200 pounds. Authorities are asking anyone with any information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
